Delta T30 (often written as ΔT30 or DT30) is a way of measuring how much heat a radiator gives off when used with a low-temperature heating system like a heat pump.
The simple idea
Radiators work by transferring heat from hot water into your room.
The bigger the temperature difference between:
- the radiator water
- and the room
…the more heat the radiator gives off.
That temperature difference is called Delta T.
What does “T30” mean?
“T30” means the radiator is being measured with a temperature difference of 30°C between the radiator water and the room.
Example:
- Water inside radiator averages 50°C
- Room temperature is 20°C
50°C − 20°C = Delta T30
